Post How to Think Like a Dragon
OK. It seems that since not everybody has finished, or in some cases even read the book, I have developed this topic to help future RPers, and more advanced RPers, who are making or controlling a dragon character, bound or wild, how to think like a dragon, according to the formula set down by Saphira :D in Brisingr.

From my perspective, it goes like this.

A dragon thinks in this formula when it concerns or regards something that is beyond a dragon's understanding. This includes, but is not limited to, things that the dragon cannot see or touch, or any of the other senses for that matter. Keep in mind that if any of these things are beyond a dragon's senses, it uses this formula. For example, the sun. Instead of calling it "the sun," since it is beyond a dragon's sense of touch or hearing, a dragon would call it something based on physical characteristics. So, for example, a dragon would call the sun "yellow-ball-of-bristling-hairs."

Also take into account that every dragon thinks differently. The older ones, like Faefnir or Aeraldi for example, will understand more things because they have been around longer and have been able to experience these things through smell, or touch, etc. However, it is not just understanding that plays a role--it is also familiarity. The Empire, for example, is a mere blip in time to a being as old as Faefnir, so he is not entirely familiar with it, causing him to call it "black-kingdom-of-mad-king" instead of just the Empire.

Also, because every dragon thinks differently, different wording will be used for the same object. For example, Faefnir may call the Empire "black-kingdom-of-mad-king," but Aeraldi may call it (and this is just for example) "black-kingdom-on-flat-plain." Also notice that when a dragon thinks, he or she uses words that describe the object.

There are only two constants in the dragon thought processes. The bipedal people's of Alagaesia, since the races themselves are beyond a dragon's comprehension--a dragon is never bipedal (for the moment), so he or she cannot experience what it is like to be human or elf or dwarf or Urgal--will be addressed according to the following things:

Dwarf = short-two-legs
Elf = pointed-ear-two-legs
Human = round-ear-two-legs
Urgal = horned-two-legs

The second constant is that a dragon, although he or she cannot comprehend it in his mind, will always speak of it in it's Common form. So, Faefnir will always call the Empire in public "the Empire." It is only when he is thinking to himself will he call it "black-kingdom-of-mad-king."

I hope this has cleared it all up for you RPers out there, and if you have any questions, just PM me and I'll try to answer as best and as quickly as I can.
