Does anyone think that eragon's or anyone else's real name will play any significant role in book three. how/why?

Yes, because Murtagh said in the end of Eldest that Gably knows his and Eragon's real name followed by that they're both slaves to him... so I think they will.

But do we know exactly what knowing someone's true name does?

I thought he was reffering to himself (murtagh) and Thorn not him and Eragon. If he knew Eragons real name, the series would be over and Eragon wouldnt stand a fighting chance...

I want to know more anout true name too, maybe we will in the thrird book.

I believe that it is not going to be an important part of the story, or that we will even learn it.

Knowing someone true name would be like knowing an object true name. You could do anything can imagine and have enough energy to do.

do you think if a person knew his/her own true name they could somehow make themselves stronger? i mean manipulate themselves for the better by using magic. (similar to how someelves changed into animal like figures)

well it says in Eragon that the elves were born with the knowledge of their true name but other species weren't and Brom said that many people went on quests to find out what their true names were and he also said that knowing it drove some of them mad but it gave others power over themselves.

I think eragon's true name will be close if not the same as the very first eragon. That would be cool!

I think his true name will be the same as either Galby's or #1Eragon.

Here's an interesting question. If dragon's have true names (and based on what Murtagh said to Eragon in Eldest it looks like they do), then what is Saphira's true name and will IT play an important part. I have this nagging feeling that when we find out Eragon's true name, we will find out Saphira's as well.

i think eragons real name could possibly b brisingr or somthin to do with fire nd saphira's true name couldb somethin to do with flying, as eragon found manipulating fire to kill the urgals and saphira is a superb flier, it sorta makes sense lol, if u think about it
