Arya can love Eragon but only if the new egg hatches for her. If it does then Saphira and the new dragon will have to hit it off and since feelings are shared between rider and dragon Arya will find herself in love with Eragon.

i thought so too, but it's not that. It might do something, but it probably will only STRENGTHEN any feelings Arya has for Eragon. I have some evidence, thought that she does have some feelings for him, so read above 4 posts.

the biggest one I remember was reading Eragon again and finding all that stuff that made me start thinking that it was Brom, not Morzan. I couldn't believe that it was Morzan, but before I reread Eragon, I had only guessed Brom as a possibility.

if you are going to go so far as to stretch the meaning of candle to candle of friendship, then you can easily stretch it to mean candle of love. It fits sooo much better than friendship.

hope: that's what CP is wanting to make us think. hope is too obvious. Obviously, a lot of thinking went into that phrase. It's meant to be cryptic. Thus, its obvious meaning is often false or subordinate to the hidden meaning.

yeah. candle to "candle of friendship" is a stretch. Candles, to my knowledge are not often meant as a symbol of friendship. They are more often a symbol of romance and love. Like what do you have if you want a romantic mood? candles and dimmed/off incandescent light.

Going back to the part about the candle:
When Arya said "The candle still burns" I believe she meant there was still hope. Why would she say that out loud if she meant "I still love him". I think the candle symbolizes hope. However, at that point I think she was begining to realize that she loved Eragon and that was why she didn't say or do much during that discussion.

Me neither. I think he should fall in love with that elf girl who was singing as he flew away on Saphira. I mean, she sang it to him and she sang the same song for the Agheiti Blodhren. So I think she might have some sort of significance in the last book. Maybe she makes Arya jealous? Or maybe she's Eragon's true love and Arya makes him realize that.

Exactly. It wouldn't be fair to either of them and the age difference is probably what ruined most of those human/elf relationships that Eragon read about in Eldest.

He can try, but I won't go down without a fight!! It wouldn't be fair to either of them for them to stick it out, for some unknown reason, if they get together and it turns out that they don't love each other. It's basically the same thing as a loveless marriage. He would be happier with someone his own age, who gets what he's feeling when teenage aggression kicks in. Arya is WAY past that stage, so she would end up treating him like a child, which we all know he can't stand, not even from Saphira.

Yeah, somebody mentioned that before. But we really don't know enough about Ajihad and Nasuada to say whether or not they were noble or not. All we know about them was that they were father and daughter, and that both were chosen to lead the Varden. That makes them the leaders of a resistance force, not nobility.

And Angela told him that, not Solembum. Solembum told him about the Rock of Kuthian, Vault of Souls, and when he is in need of a weapon to look under the roots of the Menoa tree.

That's exactly it, Saphirarox. I mean someone could even reword something they have already said and it can make so much more sense that it creates new discussion and other topics and such. As you said, someone else could come with a unique perspective and change other people's thoughts or simply broaden their perspective.

1. it's a good assumption, but it's a really weak point to make. Dreams are often distorted. His focus was on the ship, the dragons, the person crying on the beach, and the two figures. They SEEMED taller than the others because his focus was on them and his dream make them stand out.

2. I thought that at first too, but would CP really do that? FORCE her to love him? it might bring her to do something she wouldn't have, but not against her heart. (damn I get better and better at explaining these things as I do it over and over again) Maybe Greenie could talk to her and convince her to voice her feelings. That is a possibility. I think all she needs is a push from the right direction.

i think it's possible she not told him out right that she doesn't love him and i always thought that she kissed him at the ceremony when all the elves went a little mad because it made her drop her defences and that was what she wanted to do because she felt strongly for him

I, on the other hand, do not. The second you put reasoning, even bad reasoning, it brings it up for debate. Look, She could have easily been in denial, confused, or uncertain of her feelings at that time. Any one of those things could make her able to say that she doesn't love him in the AL. And then you have to explain things at the Battle of the Burning Plains, which is practically inconceivable without saying she has feelings for him.

there is little way you can twist the meaning of "My feelings for you are of a friend and nothing more." That's pretty loophole free. She can be confused about SOME feelings for him, but she still believes them to be just those of a friend, then she can be in denial and believe to herself that they are only those of a friend, as long as she believes it. Uncertainty... is possible, given that she can still believe on one side that she only feels for him as a friend, then on another, deeper part of her psyche that she isn't in touch with atm, she can believe there is something more and still say it because of her dominant analysis.

Arya relise's this and therefore will not allow herself to fall for eragon. Even if Eragon DOES survive Gallbatorix and Murtagh she might not allow herself to love him because there is a pretty big age difference (100 years). I would love it if they got together but i dont know wether it will happen - she's a princess but she doesnt want a partner - all she wants is to see Gallbatorix dead. I think she could fall in love with anyone who could do that but as CP has said a main character will die at the end of book 3, it could be her. This would Leave Eragon Heart-broken which would make a good story from CP's point of view. Plus if theres gonna be a 4th book it cant be eragon that died as he will be needed for the 4th book - unless CP plan's to expand on another main characters story in book 4.

2. it is not because she sees his purpose, but because she believes that she would interfere with his purpose and his resolve.

3. Who says she doesn't want a partner? She seems rather alone most of the time.

4. When he said that, he had not as of yet divided the book into two. And it was not that someone would die AT the end, but BY the end.

5. You don't know CP's mind, therefore there is no way for you to discern what he would see as a good story.
