If I understood what Kings man13 is trying to say is an alternative ending for the plot. I have a feeling he likes the gross, gory battles where people turn against each other and sliced them into shreds, I think!

I don't think this will happen because of the sworn oath in the AL Murtagh was forced upon by Galbatorix.

Murtagh is young and healthy, Galbatorix may have long life but he's getting old. He would need Murtagh to serve him and his purposes in order to totally reign over Alagaesia, so I don't think he'll kill him. I mean, after all, Murtagh is now a Rider.

We don't know if Solembum was being literal about the "sword under the roots of the Menoa tree" It could be another thy of weapon, information, a spell or a sword.

i think eragon will fight Gilby eventually but he wont kill him, what if gilby DIDNT know murtags truw name and Murtag just thought he did so he was obeying. So i think Murtag and eragon will kill gilby by stabbing him at the exact same time from both sides

But Murtagh has already sworn in the AL. He can't be realesed unless Galbatorix lets him, which won't happen.
