What if there was no rider, just the green dragon and he was really really powerful?

The Green Dragon Egg is a rider's egg, so it needs a Rider to hatch.

That's right, it can't hatch until it's eventual rider will come along.

Not real sure, it might have to wait a real long time.

How do you know if you're a wild dragon? But what if somebody stole the egg and is it still a wild dragon's egg?

I believe that you can wait, but the book doesn't go into the slight detail on the subject.

Eragon w/ or w/o Arya will retrieve the Green egg in the begining to middle of the book and it hatches for Eragon. Pretty simple. The egg is not in the Helgrind, I dont know what led people to think so, and thusly Roran will never be exposed to the Egg.

The only reall way there could be no new dragon is if somehow the egg gets smashed and the only way that can happen is by an individual and no individual is stupid enough to smash a dragon egg knowing how important they are to either side

what about the green scale eragon found when he was training with oromis and gelder

could the green dragon be wild and the third egg not hatch in this book

where did you read about the green scale? if you could find it please let me know because I didnt read that but it would be easy to overlook I imagine.

But point being the varden needs and ally. CP wont put two VERY powerfull riders against one SEMIPOWERFULL RIDER. Eregon will need help to take them down.

The green scale (i though it was a fragment from a broken egg) was found at the Stone of Shattered Eggs (or something like that) and the scale/ fragment was ancient.

I dont think that there will be more dragons just for the sake of it will take out all of the point it there turns out to be many dragons instead of just the few. CP has also made a big point that there those five are the last remaining ones.

I know this is old but hey I HAVE to pick up on it the wild dragons GAVE their eggs to the riders to become RIDER dragons

Rider Dragons' eggs were always rider dragon eggs, but a wild dragon could give some to the Riders.

Also, to Death_to_Varden, it would regress the plot because it would make the point of Saphira being the last female dragon less significant and it would make Eragon and Saphira expendable to Galbatorix. It won't do much at the end of the book, but before then, it could be deadly. It would help when Eragon and Saphira leave, so that they aren't taking dragons away from Alagaesia.

acctually a rider, rider dragon egg could be raised in the wild because certain words have to be said over the eggs gladr tells them about the words when they have their lone lesson (without oromis that is) together

yaeh, but that wouldn't happen often, because the wild dragons only gave the rider's 1-2 at a time. That's not that many.

dragon riders don't have a choice in being a rider or not, the dragon gets to pick it's rider. so, arya won't have a say to be a rider or not, but anyway, she doesn't exactly like to stay in duweldenvarden. in eldest, she said that she spent too much time there

If my memory serves me right, I believe the spell was placed over the eggs before giving them out. I believe this because it is said in the book (not going to look it up just now, got to work tomorrow) that only two or three eggs were given to the Riders.

You don't have much of a choice if you are picked to be a rider. Arya would be fine with it, but she would still be uncomfortable at first being around Eragon all that much after the instances in Ellesmera. There were only two or three WILD dragon eggs at a time, but I'd bet there were a bunch of rider dragon eggs.

OK, I'm not following you on this one. Since it's the egg or the hatchling that choses the Rider, I am assuming there were bound to be more candidates than eggs. We know this because Brom explains it to Eragon.

That Arya would feel kind of awkward around Eragon, I don't know, I think she does have deep feelings for him, but her sense of honor obligates her to do the "right thing", but if both are Riders, it balances things out.
