Yes, they have to look at it the same way. Or how do you explain the different colours if not controlled by genes? They are still creatures made of flesh and blood, so there have to be genes as well.

In some animals, inbreeding doesn't matter. Many rodents are like this, who is to say that dragons aren't?

mammals, reptiles,amphibians,birds, fish and even insect all have different but most have a problem with inbreeding

If you have a red dragon and a yellow dragon, they wont only have orange dragons. they could have a blue dragon. I don't think that science matters much in a fantacy book!!!

Well, Galbatorix stole the eggs from the riders, so they would already have the words over them, Saphira is proof of this.

Yeah, in his final battle with the riders, he stole 3 eggs. Two have hatched.

No, the Wyrdfell are the forsworn (different name) and the remaining riders were the ones left still loyal to Vrael.

But there are several candidates for a Rider. Look on most of these topics and you'll find likely candidates.
