It's funny cause you DON'T KNOW THAT. This is purely theoretical. I'm not completely disagreeing with it but there is a chance Arya made these gestures for other reasons.

There was no mention of her acting this tenderly towards any other males in Eragon -or- Eldest, which makes me wonder..
Arya is loyal to her people and the Varden's cause. It was said that she would deny/ignore any feelings for Eragon if it interfered with his training and what he needed to achieve.

let me adress this methodically. Eragon's feeling were not exactly mixed. He was just confused by them. for her good? what good would it be for her if she was in a relationship with someone she doesn't love as of yet??? the last statement i agree with. their relationship will quite possibly develop into something more than just close friendship.

This is all based on perception and speculation. Since you skipped all the "Roran" parts, it may be you have failed to see he may have the potential to be a good Rider. However, I am not saying he WILL be the next Rider, you know how I feel on it only being fair and logic that Ayra should be the "chosen" one, but we cannot and should not explore other possibilities.

true love will bridge the gap in experience and because they are both immortal, in like 100-200 years, it won't really matter anymore, though that is beyond the scope of the next book. elven age is a bit different than human, because elves don't really age. you are all thinking in the scope of human age. they are totally different.

Let say that life expectation of a human is around age 65 while elves is around 2000 years (sorry I really forgot, but let say it's 2000 for now)
In example, me and my husband's age gap is about 4 years, so it makes 4/65 = 0.062 and Eragon and Arya's age gap is... (gosh I forgetting it again!) let say 150 years, thus it's 150/2000 = 0.075
From the equation above clear that the comparation between those two are quite similar. (If anyone could come with better exact numbers for Elves' age pls correct my calculation)

elves are immortal. they don't have a life expectancy, so it doesn't really work as well. it's ok to make up the number for the sake of the figures though.

Arya is 100 and Eragon is 16, so that is 84 years, so the figure is even SMALLER!!!

But it is still nasty, the age diffrence is like whoa. And the diffrence will never change and that is just nasty.

the precent difference relative to life expectancy isn't bad. what that means is the ratio between Eragon's age and Arya's age, devided by their respective normal life expectancies is fine.

and eragon (after transformation = half human, half elf) + arya: 5 + 10 = 15

Eragon is still a human with elven abilities.

there's a possibilty Eragon may live less longer than elves, but he's certainly live much longer than human (it's like Aragorn and Lady Arwen from LOTR, remember the scene where Aragorn died first?)

So Eragon can't marry a human. It will be weird if he marry a dwarf, so it will be best if he marry an elf..

As elves been saying, Arya is quite young for elf. And to have children in elven kingdom is a rare thing... that means Eragon would have a hard time finding a partner around his age.

he was given ALL the atributes of an elf. most likely including immortality. and he can't MARRY her, cuz she's an elf! and he's not really 1/2 human, 1/2 elf. he's just Eragon. lol. and what part of his transformation is unique don't you understand??? noone else will ever go/ has gone through it!

He isn't immortal, he just has a long life span. And so what if it's the first time the ceremony's been used, it can be used on someone else.
