Hmm, somehow I cannot see that happening. "Well, Greeny/Thorn, I REALLY HATE YOU, but I'll mate with you for the sake of our race even though I'll hate all young that come from this union because they'll remind me of YOU." I think she'll find love. There would be no emphasis on it in ELDEST if she didn't.

Or the other way round, if the dragons like each other, maybe the riders will. Anyway, I don't want it turning completely romantic. It's fantasy or adventure, not romance.

yes, but the predictable part comes lot from things cp put into the books that show she is a very good posibility. top on my list is her purple magic, and the purple egg.

i must have been thinking of something else when i typed that.
i think that if saphira doesn't fit with the next dragon, then she will find a mate somewhere else. she isn't going to just give up on her race. and she knows she will have eragons support, so she won't be alone looking. but i do think she and the next dragon will fit. if its in fact male. or maybe mortaugh and thorn will be released from galby so he can have free will. i think there is still good in him.

To be able to mate with someone, people (and dragons also), need sometime to know each other and it is only possible when there's plenty of time for them to do that (i.e. like the story of saphira and glaedr they spent lots of time together).

The third dragon might hatched in the middle of the book (if not on the lasts chapters)

If there is a possibility for Saphira to "mate" with the last dragon, there should be a plot where Saphira spend sometime with the Greeny, otherwise... it's not gonna work.

very good point. but the last chapter could be a follow up. it could take you to a point in the future. like having the inchantment sed over an egg of saphiras. so that it will go to the next rider. granted i'm sure she'll pass on more than one egg. but not all.

even if the third dragon is a male saphira may mate with thorn even if the evil bindings are still there its possible.

then the dragon riders can come back

No, there's not a fourth book. There are a few dragons that Saphira could mate with, and we'll see which one (if there's one at all) she'll be with.

that would be a sad ending, though. i dont think CP wants to make us sad (at least i hope not), so i dont think he'll wipe out the dragons. if so, then ill cry
