What are the chances Eragon gets King Hrothgars sword, Volund?

No because volund is a hammer not a sword. And once Orik is his heir, I think he will get volund

To be a blood brother is to exchange blood. You cut your hand and so does the other person and then shake hands. As simple as that.

I think eragons sword will be white or blue, like the original eragons sword. I think he learns how to sind to the trees and this is what helps ihm find it. When he finds this sword he will find his real name either inscribed on it or summit like that.

I always thought the weapon to be found under the Menoa Tree would be a weapon Eragon would take as a final resort in his.... last battle? or something like that... I would think he would get a new weapon from some other sword.

Volund is a hammer, and Eragon needs a Sapphire-blue Rider's blade, which will probably come to him via the Menoa Tree.

Its gunna be the sword of the first rider,elf Eragon. It will be white because of his dragon color and the vault of souls will contain the true name of the anchient launguage. AND OR Eragons real name. I feel so strongly about this that i believe it to be fact. Im hoping to get Empire Advanced Readers Copy so i can ruin the surprise for u all!!! haha

here is the point remember how ayra said in that one chapter she will be back on the blood oath celcebration she never said a word about that she must of said it through her mind witch meant that ta da she said she would do it and place it under the tree in her mind so that eragon wouldent hear and besides remember that if you talk to a werecat and they give you advice its not wise to ignore it

Its not wise but advice isnt always direct. The weapon was probably the elf transformation but then what will he use for a sword. Unless the sword is in the vault...

thats an opinion you can relay on except if it was the vault of souls then someone in the vault of souls would need to hold the other reason is solebum provided the information and as u said advice isint always direct but i think this was somewhere close to it

the vault could hold eragon's sword (the elf one) because it never said it would hold a name or a spirit or spell so the sword could be there but if anything i like your opinion, your EXCELLENT opinion on how the elf that swore she would never make another dragon riders blade again, but she could teach someeone else to make them. Great one

The vault only restores eragons energy and eragon is going to get a sword from under the menoa tree. the question is Did someone just make it and hide it there for safe keeping, or was it the first eragons sword, or did some one how died put it there a long time ago.

Does it seem to you guys that she would be reluctant to cooperate with Orik, to work as a team to make Eragon a new sword, when it was actually one of Orik's clan kin who taught her the skill, (in the event that he doesn't think of going to the Menoa Tree?)

To make another sword that will be battled with Galbatorix's and Murtagh's sword, MUST be a flawless sword with equal power of the Shur'tugal !
I'm saying is, in a short time (Eragon got to be hurried saving Katrina and pursue Murtagh), this new smith other than Rhunnon--i.e. Orik--need to learn fast and at the same time practise fast and need not to make any failure !!

But the most important thing is... how long does it take to create a New Brilliant Sword for Riders?? Remember Orik's bow? How long did he work on it? I forgot.

I recon that he will get a sword like Zar'roc from under the tree. I think orrice gets the hammer. Who thinks that Roran will become king after King gal????

hmmmm... i reckon that he will get a sword like Zar'roc but it is blue like saphira. But were does he get it from? the sword lady in the elf place, or some were else? But are we counting the fact that he was healed by the menoa tree as the prophecy or not??

still, the smith said she would never create another weapon of destruction. she made a vow on that a long time ago. but i am having second thoughts that mabey because of the situation the elves and darwves are in she might make the sword. but i dont think she'll make it with orik because it her own special ability to make those kind of swords.

Consider what the Menoa tree is: an elf that sang herself into the tree and gave it a life to watch over the forest. That elf's greatest power was mastering the ability to sing to plants, but what if she also devised a way to sing to cognitive beings to alter their behavior, just as songs alter incognitive beings such as flowers, trees, grass, vines, and anything else falling into the class of a plant? So would it be too far-fetched to say the weapon could be a song that could alter the mind of Galby's or Murtagh's dragon and make them open their eyes to what they have become? But that leaves the barrier of how a song could override the binding oaths of the ancient language. Still, it's an idea.

That might work, but she would have to be very powerful to get into the mind of a dragon.
