I don't think so. I think that Eragon is going to kill Galbatroix and free Murtagh from the words binding him to Galbatroix. Then together Murtagh and Eragon will keep the Earth at peace. Then later Thorn (Murtagh's Dragon) will mate with Saphira (Eragon's Dragon) to create a new generation of riders.

Actually, there is a third dragon because on a different fan site i've been to, they said that the new cover was most likely to have the same theme(as in book same as dragon on cover) and there will be a green dragon on the cover. Also it will be called Empire.

*whacks head* you guys need to read Eldest more carefully. CP said that there IS going to be a green dragon on the front of Empire, and Glaedr says in the book that Saphira is meant for the dragon in the green egg. It is somewhat inevitable that Galbotrix WILL fight Eragon, and Murtagh probably WILL be freed in this manner. And Murtagh tells Eragon at the end of Eldest that the final unhatched egg holds a MALE dragon.

Ouch, ya your right I just remembered, Murtagh said the reason Galbatroixs wants him was for the Dragon, not Eragon. Murtagh also said Saphira is the only female dragon left, and without her Galbatroixs dream of reconstructing the riders will not come true.

i don't know, CP built murtagh's character very gloom and quiet. And murtagh himself admit that (at the end of Eldest) he enjoyed learning darkest magics from galbatorix and too he said, elves are coward. Oath is i understand, but such saying means from himself, not even galbatorix can make him say bad words to eragon!! Umm.. maybe he IS going to be like his father. I think he'll die.. but how he'll die, at least it's not by eragon's hand. Maybe in the end he commit self-destruct in order to take the king down with him, who knows?? U'know like Gandalf did in LOTR vol.1 Aww.. please don't be mad at my assumption

It’s all good and it’s a good assumption Its highly possible and I do agree with you, but I think ill wait to see how it turns out or re-read it a few times to find out what happens...Can someone give me a page in the books that tells the color of the last dragon egg? And by the way depending on if he names the book Empire or not I am almost 100% sure that the dragon on that cover will be the Black dragon of Galbatorix. Blue, Red, and then Black go well with the colors of the series. Having green with the other two kind of clashes.

I guess the black dragon would work but shouldn't it be the dragon that comes out of the third egg like the other books. Also I think murtagh won't die cause if he did it would too sad.

I have day dreamed that I could use magic once or twice making up what I would do with it and how it would change the lives of all of us to even have a power like that exist and it was kind of fun until I got hit with a snowball LOL

personally... I don't really like Murtagh... AND I DID think about having magic lots of times. With magic, Science and technology would literally go haywire... wouldn't it??

i hope murtagh doesnt die i like murtagh i think that hes acting the way he is cuz he got forced to jion oaths with the king so he is pretty much under the kings control, cuz in eldest when eragon was telling murtagh that he could join him and be with people who actually cared for him murtagh looked sad but then said that he couldnt cuz he swore himself to the king.
