 no energy on burning plainsin eldest at the battle between the varden and the empire, eragonfought murtagh. when he was fighting him he was runiing out of energy and there were no living things to take the energy from apart from the vardens soldiers, but what about the scavenging birds above the battlefeild?

Re: no energy on burning plains He would be mentally connected with all those birds and would feel each and every one of them die as he took their energy. He would be disgusted with what he did. Remember the part where he took the energy from that dieing horse?! He wasn't very happy that he had to do that. So I don't think he would have done it.

Re: no energy on burning plains I think the only reason Eragon was able to block out Oromis was because he was the only person there. It would be very difficult to do that during a battle with hundreds of people and not being able to tell who is apart of the Varden and who is apart of the Empire.
