Post Flood
Hey guys, ummm I'm kinda in a weird situation. I live up in North Dakota and we are in a flood situation. Our river is worse than it was in the flood of 97...which wasa the worst until now. The water rose to 39 feet back then...this one is going to crest to 41 ft.
For now the sand bagging seems to be holding up, plus we just got some more snow which slowed the water's progress.
Anyways, I live in a small town of Oxbow, 10 miles south of Fargo (ND's biggest city.) Our water was turned off yesterday due to a dike breaking into our sewage system. So as a precaution to flooding and having no water, we had to go into town and move into my grandmother's condo (shes in the south during winter). Point is, I was lucky to get internet for today. But I'm not sure when I will be back at my house. North Dakota is in a hectic state atm, another river in the middle of the state next to Bismarck is also flooding so its pretty crazy right now.

Hope to be back on soon. Later guys.

Oh wow, I had heard of the situation going on up there... I guess it's more serious that I thought. Well I hope everything turns out okay for you Daidrea and that you'll be able to return soon! Stay safe!

I live in south fargo. The crest just raised to 42-43 feet, so I am now in danger too. I probably won't be on either. I hope you are ok! I know people in Briarwood who lost their home and had to be lifted by helicopter. Our community is really pulling together. USA's Person of The Week (in my opinion): Fargo/Moorhead Community. Over 20,000 hands!

TO SAND
To sand go tracers and ball ammunition.
To sand the green smoke goes.
Each finned mortar, spinning in light.
Each star Cluster, bursting above.
To sand go the skeletons of war, year by year.
To sand go the reticles of the brain,
the minarets and steeple bells, brackish
sludge from the open sewers, trashfires,
the silent crowd resting
on the shoulders of a yak. To sand
each head of cabbage unravels its leaves
the way dreams burn in the oilfires of night.

I had heard a lot about that, but mostly about stuff in neighboring Minnesota. The flood levels are topping those of '97 there too. So far nothing's been going on around here, though.

Good luck to you, Daidrea and Aorian! Stay safe!

I hope things get better up there, this snow we're getting won't help at all.

I live in Minnesota, so I wanted to come and help sandbag, etc. But it's too far a drive, plus I'm only a high-schooler :D

I've mostly just been hearing about the damage in Manitoba, rather than the States that are being affected, and wow, you guys are getting it far worse than the Canadians I think. I never heard of it getting that high up here.

Stay safe, both of you!
