 A bit of bad news.
Hi everyone. You may have noticed the decreased amount of online activity amongst me and my siblings; Toph, Aang, and Sokka recently. We were looking forward to spending more time on here, because of our summer holiday. But, I'm afraid there's been a tragedy in our family. Last night, at around 9:30, our only grandfather passed away. Needless to say, our family is pretty broken right about now. My siblings and I probably will not be online much in the near future. This is indefinite, though. It could change. Personally, I'll probably only be on here to PM certain people, you won't be able to see me though. Posting holds no point anymore for me. For now, at least. I don't even know. Well, it was fun, I guess. Bye.

Re: A bit of bad news.
Well, Nida basically explained. I won't be on much anymore either. I may come on every few days to PM, but I have no desire to post regularly at this point. We just need to support each other and our family. In time, things will get better. All we can do is hope and pray at this point. Well, thanks for everything, guys. It's been fun. Hope you all have a nice summer; don't take anything for granted. Spend time with those you love, because you never know...one day, you could see them just for a second at a certain party, and suddenly, never see them again. Live and love, and count your blessings.

Re: A bit of bad news.
Geez *deletes PM* I'm sorry about that ... People who've died in my family, grandparents, uncles, I've never really mourned over. They weren't much to me. My family is a pile of broken patchwork. Not too many connections at all. So yes ... I'm sorry ... All good things come to an end ...

Re: A bit of bad news.
You have my sympathies, a death in the family is hard to get over. I hope you feel better soon, just treasure what time you spent with them. I've found the best way to make myself feel better is to remember them and what they meant to you, forever honoring their memory. I'm sure I speak for all when I say our hearts go out to you and your family.

Re: A bit of bad news.
The loss of a loved one is never an easy pain to overcome or endure. All I can say is remember the good times. Keep the memory of the happy, loving and wonderful times with your grandfather, close to your heart and mind. It's the best honor you can bestow upon him. I don't think he would be happy to know you are all in pain, but would wish that you all be content with the time given to enjoy each other.
Your family has the blessing of tight family bonds, and that in itself is a treasure. Mourn him, but do not forget all which you received from him. Remember every smile, every caress, every word of wisdom; I am sure it will bring a smile to your lips and a fuzzy, warm feeling to your heart.
We all are sorry for your loss, specially to members whom are so dear to all of us at Saphira Forums.
May peace be in your hearts!
Hugs, Annie

Re: A bit of bad news.
Thank you, all of you. Your words mean a lot to me. I appreciate it.
There's so much more I want to say here...but I don't know where to start. He was such a great man. Such a hard worker, too...he worked until his very last day. He refused to retire, he said he would work until the end. He had such a passion for teaching..he was a professor. A chemistry professor. So knowledgeable, too. And he never complained about anything. He was always so damn humble and sincere. And I can remember everything, all the good times. The tire swing he set up at their old house, and the park he used to take us to. And...and his garden. He and my dad always used to compete with their gardens every year. And this year....oh God, you should see his garden. Taller than waist-height. And he told us he would water it every day...but now he can't even see the fruits come....
I can't even describe how my grandma is right now. She was married to him for 54 years, for goodness' sake. She was looking at old picture albums today...her wedding...You should have seen those pictures of my grandparents. They could have been in freaking movies, or models or something, damn it.
But...when I think back on all of it, it seems like it was almost planned. I mean...remember the party last weekend? How it rained, and we were disappointed that everything was kept indoors? But that way, my grandfather was able to come. He met with our extended family for the last time, and all our family friends. He was so happy, too...He even fed Nida cake. He saw his first granddaughter graduate from high school. And then on Sunday, he and my dad and my dad's siblings all had a nice cake for Father's day. God, he was so happy...He led a damn good life. And he'll never be forgotten. He..he always wanted me to be a doctor. And damn it, I'm going to be a doctor one day.
I've said too much, I apologize. I just don't know who to say all of this to...But it must be said.

Re: A bit of bad news.
And they have not been lost, honey. The sorrow and sense of loss are both palpable in your words. But also are the love, the respect and the admiration for him. The pain of it will diminish in time, but the memories of whom he was in essence, will not diminish or fade. A soft, loving smile will replace the sorrow and it will keep him forever alive in your heart.
There are no coincidences. A higher power was making sure all whom he loved and care for, were around him before his departure. For what you said, he led a full, rich life in what really matters.
My heart is also sad for your grandmother. They are proof of what I have always believed and never had. They were soul mates. That there is love and a level of total commitment between spouses, really does exists. They certainly have been blessed throughout their lifetime.
You know how to contact me, if you should feel the need to talk about him and ease your heart.

Re: A bit of bad news.
He sounds like a great man, and I hope to be that spirited when I grow older. I am glad you were able to post this obituary about him, to allow us to know what kind of person he was. It did sound like he had a good time before he died though and I couldn't think of a more fulfilling time. Again, our hearts go out to you and your grandmother.

Re: A bit of bad news.
Thank you guys for all of your kind words. I know it's not easy comforting someone when they are dealing with a recent loss, but my thanks to all of you for caring. Well, all of our mourning rituals and such are over now, and we're doing better. No crying anymore, at least, lol. It'll take time, is all. But ... we'll get there. Life does go on.
And for my continued activity on this forum ... I think I'll still be posting. Just not so much in the Chat section. So I guess today isn't a lucky day for SF, lol.
P.S. Aang and Sokka, would you care to at least say something? Jk

Re: A bit of bad news.
Well, things have pretty much returned to normal, most of our family has gotten over the tragic loss, or at least I hope so. Toph did a great job describing our grandfather, so I'll spare you all the time of reading another, more amateur description.
Thanks a lot to Zach, Silver, Aeraldi, Candace, and Annie for showing sympathy to us and sharing your kind hearts with our family. What you guys have said was very helpful and greatly appreciated. You guys are true friends.

Re: A bit of bad news.
Hey, everyone. Just want to let you all know that I'll be posting a bit on SF now that things are looking up. We're all just trying to move on and look to the future. I don't know how frequently I'll be posting; we'll see how things go. Thanks again for the support, everyone. It means a lot.
Oh, and if someone could lock this topic, that would be great. Thanks.
