A lover's cry

What is this feeling?
This feeling of apathy?
Does this stem from Love?
Surely it must...
This sense of utter Lethargy,
so complete in me,
has made moving
and effort of Will,
one I'd rather not make.
But make it i must,
for i have not the
ability to sit and do nothing
as life moves on.
Even breathing-
an action once so thoughtless-
requires constant attention!
But what is the point?
breathing is an act of life,
and i fear i am dead without you.
My soul pines for your soul,
my heart for your heart,
and my body longs for the warmth
of your arms around me now.
But i am denied it all!
Oh,damn sweet love!.........
No...not love,
never should love be cursed.
Let ne'r a tongue again
utter those words.
Rather, let us damn
the most hated of enemies
that prevent sweet love
from blooming to its full.
Time...and distance.
How i loath and despise the two!
Oh, LOVE!
Were i free to move
as i Will at last,
i would fly to you
as if an angel's wings
were upon my back!
Only the winds of Heaven would
go faster than I.
And naught but death
could part me from your side.

my last poem was actually about myself...i wrote that this morning after crying myself to sleep last night.....

thanks. long distance relationships are HARD, especially when real love is on the line. ive learned several new emotions lately. and not the least among them is a soul deep longing that can literally drive you crazy.

i dont care where i am when i write poems. usually i write when im feeling an intense emotion, so i fase out my surroundings. like that one i just wrote, A lover's cry? i wrote that during my first hour us history class the other day.

Lets just say im not prosuing poetry as a hobby, correar or anything else

Well, I think it was pretty good. I love to write poems, and made my own, unpublished book of it. I wrote a few sonnets too.

well i was looking at yer poetry and all i saw were the same short poems, short lines and no rhyming or rhythmic pattern for syllables. free verse is ok and all, but you should try branching out and doing other stuffs too. do you have any poems that rhyme? have you tried writing stuff like that before?

maybe you should try writing a sonnet. they are really nice. I wrote two of them.

Fleeting love

A single glance upon your face
cast me down in love.
I caught your eye and looked away,
lest you think me strange.
My heart is pounding madly,
as i secretly admire
what i know i cannot have.
How wondrous is this love of mine
for someone i just met.
But now 'tis time to move along,
and leave behind such beauty.
My eyes have too long lingered
on such a hopeless affection.
So praise be to God
for fleeting Love,
when true love cannot be had.

Sitting in the grass,

A grey and dismal morning dawns,

They are as melancholy as I

I'm really bored so I'll make up a poem right now...

Stepping on glass,
It's breaking beneath my bare feet,

They tell you to, but don't bleed.

Here's one of mine:

A soft call in the wind,
Ruffles my hair in the breeze.
It lifts me high above the ground,
Carrying me with ease.

Then the silence is shattered by
The sounding horn of war.
Though try as I might to get away,
I really didn't get far.

Then I am home, safe on my bed
Not worrying about me.
But then the roar of a thousand horrors makes me turn and flee.

I place the book back on the shelf,
Excitement and fear so strong.
I pick up another with great dispair,
Wondering if it could go wrong.

A place of silent reverie,
where books sleep high and low.
The library's what this place is called,
This place i love to go.

I made this up myself. The rhyming might not be so good, but my friends said it was pretty cool. I have another, but I'll save that for later.

Well, this is nothing good or fancy. I wrote it off the top of my head in CHWYAB, and told CDG I would post it.

Run For Myself

I do not run to compete with others,
I run to defeat myself.
I do not run to get the gold,
I run to prove something.
To prove something to myself and everyone else.
I run, because in running I can show me.

I Think I have a little different poetry than you. I probably would have put it:

I step in to the library,
Looking for something,
Anything,
That might stick out.
I finally find a book,
Taking a moment to just hold it in my hands.
I open the book,
And I am swept in to a whole new world.
I read through the book,
And finally closing it,
The spell is broken.

But I like yours more =D

Wow. those are really good. I would have never guessed that people like books as much as I do. No offence to those that love reading, though. I love books in general.

Here's another poem I wrote:

It is one of my first poems I wrote. Some people say I have a "gift" for poetry, but what is your opinion? I probably don't. You just need a good mind, a wide imagination, and a big vocabulary. Lol.

I have the complete OPPOSITE problem! I stink at poetry! I write what I come by. But my poetry is more about me, about choices I have been forced to make and the people around me. Observation A:

I will Go

I will keep going,
no matter what hits me.

Because I have something none of the others do:
Determinaton,
Will,
And a reason to want it.
So I will keep going,

cdg: Its the exact same with me too! I mean, if I want to write poetry, the words just naturally come. I don't even have to think. Only with words that don't have many rhymes, like orange and toast, I usually find slant rhymes for them, but it only takes a second. its so easy.

Killing youtube-video-downloading time right at this moment ... This just randomly came to me. My mind is odd .. I know ... this poem probably got flaws all through it, but meh ...

It's fascinating.... I see some sense, a bit of a story, and an idea.
Or perhaps I spin delusions from what was intended as a silly piece. Either way, this brother likes the provoked thoughts.
