Doesn't mean that this forum is doomed for destruction yet. Traffic will increase over the summer, and I'm sure that the next CP books will help bring more people over.

Well there was a time where on a good day we would have between 400 and 500 posts. There are many factors at play in this story. Part of it would be the change of how people interact now on the internet and trends in the popularity of the books.

I have come across a problem.... For some unknown reason i cant get to Inheritance forums. keeps giving me an error "Oops! Google Chrome could not find"

Anyone have any ideas?

It's been down for the past two days. It's been having a whole load of server crashes lately. This is like the 10th time this has happened in the past three months.

But they never said why. It's been getting rather upsetting.

well i was able to get on in at about 3 am my time over here in michigan. Then at like 1pm when i got up and tried to got back, i couldn't get to it, but it makes me feel good to know that i didnt get banned

It's been a while since I took down the forum for maintenance so I shou.d have known that the vet reference would not have been remembered. Whenever the forum is taken down for maintenance or updates a message is provided explaining to the fact that it is disabled. The messages which we have used have always made reference to the dragons going to the vet

Well I don't know about the previous ones, but I suspect that it might have to do with the fact Mike as been quite busy lately. Probably is not aware or does not have the time to fix it at the moment.

As for us we had issues in the past, but things have been resolved for a while. One reason why we so rarely have to disable the board and show the dragon message

One final thing, if you are a team member it is quite likely that you are unable to see those messages and just get the standard phpBB error messages. i.e. Please remove update folder to re-enable forum

It feels good to check my email and see that im getting them about you al lposting in here, makes me think of the old days and yes, I do hope that it does become more active over the summer

@brisineo- They have never public about the system they are using so I would not expect them to start now. I personally believe that if there is something then people should be informed.

@saphirarox - Force of habit . I work almost everyday with people who would understand any technical discussion that I sometime forget. Didn't think that there was anything in that last message that could have been not understood, but I guess that I was wrong.

Well it might not have found the cause of your problems, but negative results is always a good thing. You'll need to post a picture of that quilt. As for the forum, we were not talking about IF and not SF. SF was down for less then 30 minutes for maintenance, but it seems like IF as been down since Friday.

I finally went ahead last week and planned a trip for my break. It surprising how good it felt after making that decision, I should make some more often. The only problem now is that it is in from now. Can't wait , I normally never plan anything

Inheritance Forums is gone. It appears to have shut down permanently and the domain is for sale.

That really sucks because I was in the middle of a huge fanfiction there. . .

On a good note however, SF probably has become the largest Eragon forum on the web now that the larger mainstream forum is now gone. But why would they do that?

I did a little investigating and actually it's because Mike is having the servers replaced. He just posted it on twitter today.

Well just by looking at the whois record it is clearly visible that the domain had not changed ownership. Another point you can keep in mind with godaddy is that they will try to sell your domain if you do not renew it after the one month grace period. This was not the case with this one and many other domains that Mike owns which were on that server.

Everyone should take this as a wake up call and remember to have backups of anything important that they might have online. We, the service providers do our best to keep backups, but depending on our infrastructures and capabilities they will never be fool proof.

@Brisineo : That idea did come to mind about being the largest for the past couple of day. You have to realise that we never wish anything bad to happen to someone else website. It is there project and being someone that as run websites for the past 8 years I know the amount of work that as to be done to make them possible. It is always disappointing when a site goes down and we always hope that it is not permanent and that the data has not been lost.

Well they will be back, they are not gone. I want to use my account which is almost 8 years old . It's went you can't do something anymore that you really want to do it

They've been back up since last night , but it seems like that my worries we true. Their backup they used to bring the site up again was a couple of days old so they have lost a couple of days of post.

It was almost our turn to go down today. The webserver service would not restart for about 15 minutes following an update. I was really scared that this would make us unavailable for a long time, but the problem was found in one of the config files. Saved until another day

So the anniversary party was a success. The bbq was awesome and the wedding and groom's cakes were beastly. They were so good, I still can't decide which I liked better. Although Grandpa's cake looked pretty cool, it was all chocolate, with a giant cookie on top, shaped and colored like a guitar. Aside from a few run-ins with creepy people I'd rather forget existed, the people were cool to. Here's to another 40 years of happiness for them. *cheers*

On a sadder and more dangerous note, yesterday my gparents that live down the road from me lost their pigs. They had just gotten 3 baby pigs (if you can call thirty-pounders babies) a week ago, and yesterday four dogs got in the pen and killed them all. My cousin walked down to the pen to check on them and came up on the dogs eating one. They all growled at her, so we know they're not scared of people and are obviously dangerous. Apparently they're also responsible for killing the chickens belonging to the people across the road from my house, and they ran after my aunt and her dog, but they got inside their house safely. The mutts also ran my filly through some barbed wire, though thankfully she's only got one bad cut and the rest is just wire burn from jerking her leg loose. But that was another day.

I'm scared 'cause I think it's rabies. From the way my cousin described one of the dogs, I think I know it. If it's the one I'm thinking it is, then she's not a mean dog. I've walked up to her and rolled her over and scratched her belly, and I was a stranger to her. The only explanation is rabies. This morning my mom let the dogs out (our yard is fenced) and Rosie (my dog) started up her big bark, while mom's little dogs got scared and ran back to the porch. When mom went to get in her car to go to work, something growled at her, but she couldn't see where it was. She's going to get a shotgun later, and when she called me and told me about this morning, I told her she might want to get a pistol for her purse.

So all in all, very tense on my road today. Thank God we don't have a lot of little kids running around.

That's the bark she does when something bad is close. She has three barks: playing, "I think something's there", and "Something's definitely there, and it's not good". So when I say she was using her big bark, it's something to worry about. It's that deep throated, rumbling, "back off now" bark your dog does when scared or protecting something.

I guess its just not that same without you, lol

Never mind what I said early saphirarox, I had not realised that your permissions for this forum would not allow it. Using a really nice little feature that allows me to see the forum from your perspective in terms of permissions.

For mods or admins there are normally 4 options at the bottom right corner of posts. Everyone else only have one that allows them to report post. We are also able to see details about the post, warn user or delete post from these buttons.

I'll probably add quite a few new topics to the movie and tv section. We should try to work on a different section of the forum each week. Some of these sections had not had new topics in a while and we could give that a try to refresh the forum.

Only problem is that many of the tv shows that I am watching have stopped so those wouldn't be good talking points.

Oups, I was sure that I had posted a post earlier, but it seems like I should have check for the confirmation before turning off my laptop.

Went for a CPR/first aid/defibrillator course today. I'll be certified for the next 3 years, but I realised that my skill level is above that of the course I took. This is what happens when you work in an environment that requires that (lifeguard) and you are continually reading and training for the past 7 years. With there new level system I was not able to make an equivalence, but now I know for next time.

If you have never taken such a course I have a video to show you. You should watch it anyway if you have, because it is just so funny. It's a TV ad by the british heart foundation to promote the hands only CPR which anyone could do. It could come in handy some day if you are alone and you are waiting for emergency services.

I can definitely do public service announcements. The next one should be taken with a grain of salt

Ah man, my grandfather got in a serious car crash just now. Got rammed in the passenger side by a van and totaled his car. But fortunately, he's alright. He only has a scratch on his finger and after grabbing a few things, walked the remaining distance to work when he found out his cell phone broke. He even shrugged off the loss of his car without a second thought. "Ah, it had bad transmission anyway." (Of course, he has two other cars so this one wasn't as big of an inconvenience)

For someone in his late seventies, he's as tough as nails.

Actually, things went better than expected. The car that was totaled had a faulty transmission that would take thousands to replace anyway, and because he has some connections with some auto dealerships, he only has to pay $500 and he gets a brand new car.

Well it's good to hear that he was ok. Side hits are never a good thing considering that vehicules cannot protect you as much. Another thing is that our neck is not made to move to the side which could have cause damage. Like I said it's a good thing that it was only the car and that he was correct.

I am not sure how long it would take, but I presume that it has been 3 years since the 3000. This is when I would have decided to change my rank image since I had actually reached the 5 full dragons.

I could always try to get there faster. About 3 posts a day would be enough

Oh....oh dear...my grandparents are coming over to stay. For a week. The last week of March to be exact. Cue hyperventilating, spontaneous crying, sobbing, other expressions of distress, and working like mad to be sure that there's not a single dustmite in the area. I mean, my grandparents are great, when they're at their own house. But when they come over here, it starts this massive cleaning spree of cleaning things that don't even need to be cleaned. They've never stayed over night before, and since they're staying for a week, I'm betting that mum's going to randomly cry no less than sixtee times. O.O *

Not sure if any of you remember me ranting about the 4-H speech and storytelling contest last year? The one that was an epic fail? Well, it's coming up in April or May. I started memorising my stuff about a month ago. Basically, not so paranoid this time, because I've had longer than two days to get ready, and will be staring at the wall, instead of at the stupid people in row three.

Well if you are able to determine the note just by listening to it that can also help. There are times that I play small portions of tunes that I have heard, but never learned their notes. It is fun when you are playing something and then you realise that a sequence of notes is also present in another tune. I then try to play it from that point
