Eragon can use the energy of his surroundings to use his magic right. So why doesnt he just use the energy of his enemies in a big battle.

I.E if he used the energy of person a. to kill person b. than both people a. and b. would be dead and his energy wouldn't be depleted

I think this makes perfect logical sense

lol this is so funny i was just thinking of making a topic like this.. because i have been thinking of this since he learned how to do it and i was wondering why he didnt try it during the big battle at the end of book 2.. but he didnt

My friend told me that he doesnt do it because he hates to do so and it makes him sick to the stomach

But I have been wondering this for a long time to and it would easilly almost assure victory if he did it on a wide scale

what are u talking about getting sick to the stomach?? but ya i would be using all the enemy's strenght of the men and killing them all.. cuz oromis saws in the book...... that you could defeat a whole army by yourself.. by using the 12 words of death oromis told him

but remember Galbatorix has thought of that and posted magicians who can block him from their minds to erect wards around the soldiers...

also remeber oromis said it was not practile in battle

it may not be practical but it is the smart thing to do.....

Thats the thing, we dont know enough about it to know for sure how long it would take, but I am sure with the help of the Varden and Elven spellcasters it could be done easilly

he did it pretty quickly when oromis told him how to do it...

I think that it could be done. And with the help of mostly the elven spellcasters, not so much Du Vranga Gata (spelt wrong) it could be done on a large scale almost assuring defeat of the Empire

ya.. he could just use all the soldiers energy to cast very powerful spells like maybe one of the seven words brom told him..?? idk maybe

idk go post that in that section so were not off topic.. but maybe if eragon killed the empirer's magicians ( like he did in the last battle of eldest ) and take control of the soldiers minds and use their energy to use powerful spells that take alot of energy he could kill their hole army.. maybe

its possible but he would have to kill all the magicans first and there may not be an army when he fights galby so if he usees that and then has to fight galby well hes dead

why would it take forever? it didnt take him long to get into the minds of the ants and plants and the little mouse when he was training.. im talking about killing like one of the magicians and using their troops that they were protecting and use all their energy aginst all the other soldiers.. it might take a little while but not forever..

i think i see what your saying but let me clarify so if he could breach one of the magicans minds he could use the power from those soldiers to break the wards around the other soldiers

He can tap into the enemy magicians minds and harness there strength to kill the Empires forces

no im saying he could use the energy taken from the bodies of the soldiers that the magician he killed was gaurding to use a powerful spell that takes alot of energy to kill all the other soldiers who's minds are still gaurded but they would be killed by the spell and the soldiers who's energy he took would also die because of the energy needed to use the spell... get what im sayin?

I never thought of that... I am sure that the soldiers of the empire, and varden are just normal people fighting for their nation, so how could he tell all of their minds apart, this could be a major roadblock in my idea

so maybe he just has to learn how to recognize the minds of all the varden

ya but it took him about 5 seconds to get in contact w/ all the minds of the ants, plants and the little mouse.. so he could get into the minds of all the soldiers varden and empire and pick them apart.. it might take a lil while but the battle wont be ending any time soon.. the battle at the end of eldest lasted all day.. the next one might be longer...

there proctectd by wards to so he has to find them before he can crush there mind he cant jsut attack them any way he likes

he would do the same thing he did in eldest by haveing the other magicians ( and in the empire book he would have the help of elf spellweavers also ) find the empire's magicians so he can kill them

but he still did the same thing in the last battle in eldest.. he fought while they found the empire's magicians and he killed them.. it would be like the same thing to do but he might not be fighting he could have the other dragon rider with him helping him fight and/or tyring to find the empire's magicians and killing them w/ him and using their energy to kill the soldire's (sp) so he wouldnt be as tired and it wouldnt take all day bcuz their are 2 of them instead of one

This is very well thought out but we dont know if the knew dragon rider will be good or not.

well since all the theory's its going to be good.. i mean who will shaphira mate with?? it wouldnt be fair if it was 3v1 and cp wont make it that way.. so somehow the egg is going to be stolen by the varden and it will hatch for arya.. i think it is hidden in helgrind where katrina is

When he kills a magician, he should draw all of the energy from the people he/she protects, restore his and Saphira's vitality, restore his crystals' magic, and then with the remaining strength of the enemy soldiers, create a giant fireball and send it at the next group of soldiers, thereby depleating the next enemy magician's energy because of the wards he/she has around his soldiers. This becoms a vicious cycle.



Oromis-Elda said drawing energy from your surroundings is impractical in battle, because most of the enemy soldiers are protected by wards from enemy magicians. The only people you can draw energy from regularly are your own soldiers, and that would be stupid!

He cant take the energy if they are surrounded by magicians wards, like they were in the battle of the burning plains. Hope that sorts it out.

if he kills a magician shouldn't the energy the magician used to protect people be vanquished because of the magicians death?

This makes sense and I have seen this subject in other forums. Well perhaps, so far, it may have been a bit risky or difficult, per say, for him to do such a thing. I think maybe he hasn't really thought of this idea and it would come to be very useful...but also dangerous at the same time. Maybe Eragon isn't ready, maybe, to do something like this...who knows. Juts a thought...but, really it makes perfect sense and it is very logical as well.

No oromis said it wud take time cos eragon wud have 2 select each person he included in his spell and which he wouldn,t.

yes it would be timely and it might take more energy then he gains if there were only a few soilders under that 1 magicins spell. His time would be made of better use if he just fought like normal

so if their wasn't enough energy, skip the fireball part and shape and/or boost saphira's fire. If there isn't enough for that, then kill them with their own energy!
