Ok, here is a possibilty that came across my mind

Because Murtaugh is my favorite character i'm desperatly tryin to keep him alive. heh.
Well what if King Galby is slain before Murtaugh can be killed. His knowledge of Murtaugh's and Thorn's true name would mean nothing anymore. The slain king would have no more power over Murtaugh, leaving him to make his own decisions. As the new riders rise Eragon takes leadership with Murtaugh and whoever else behind him.

Just a thought.

Murtaugh's actions put himself AND eragon in quite a predicament.....There are many different ways this could unfold...lets wait and see what paolini has to say.

I don't think Murtagh will be forgiven by any of the races.Especially the dwarves.Just serving Galbatorix is enough to turn everyone against him.

That's really true, but if they could just kill Galbatorix then maybe if he did alot of good especially for the dwarves then maybe they might accept him.

I don't think the dwarves will forgive Murtagh because after all he did kill there king.
The other races might forgive him though if he doesn't harm any of then.Plus it isn't really Murtagh's fault cause he is under Galby's influence so his actions arn't really his own.
And he is still good because he let Eragon go so he cnt be all bad can he???

No, I think he is good deep down just has the wrong influence at the moment. Galby needs to die so Murtagh can become good again.

Murtagh hides among peasants. He change his face with magic and say in the ancient language to never hurt anyone and marry Nasuada. They live happily in a cave.

oh and weather or not he is able to be free when galby dies will depend on the oath/s he took.
If he said "i will serve your ideas and values so long as i live", then hes still bad when galby dies,
if he said "i will do your bidding as long as you live" then when galby dies, then hes good.

also he may have taken oaths IN CASE of galbys death, he may have sworn to kill eragon if galby ever dies, or to kill certain people, in which case even when galby died hes still bad.

oh and i think the elves might accept him , since they understand the effevts of the AL. the dwarves deffinallly wont. not sure about the humans.

well just to tell you all i see in his future is ethier death or being accused of murder and being forced to run once again,but at least in this scenario
he lives and eragon might convice them to not hate him, but i mostly see death his future

i think eragon will kill thorn so then murtogh will have a harder time trying to kill eragon .or eragon will kill thorn and then murtogh will be practically useless to galbatorix so galbatorix will kill murtogh .
