I said no, I think Roran is kind of the person in the book who does things without magic or dragons or extra ability, he just has the ability and the drive, he's the everyday person that everyone can relate to.

I don't think Roran will be the next rider, because although it runs in the family... it runs in Morzan's bloodline, not Selena's. I never thought Roran would be king, but that makes sense. The people would not want another king who was a dragon rider.

I'm not sure if Roran will be, but the family thing does not connect. Morzan has no true realtion to Roran. He does not have rider blood, unless Garrow, Selena, and Cadoc have something in their family history that is not known to the current generation . . .

There are many red herrings in the story which can be misleading. Roran has certainly acquitted himself as brave, loyal, doing the right thing, having qualms about killing, caring for the good of the all, etc. But his main drive is to save and rescue Katrina. If he succeeds in this endeavor I do not think he'll become a Rider. He will want a normal life with Katrina, thus incapacting him to be a Rider.

But then again he does seem quite interested in dragons.

No, I have never seen a Dragon Rider with a hammer, though the image it brought a huge smile to my lips. I can imagine that if Roran becomes a Rider, he will be given a sword by the elves. I think Eragon was not given one because everyone knew he had Morzn's swords.

After all he will recieve a new one when is Morzan in hands of true owner (ye ye Murtagh you're my favourite guy ).

I don't know about you, but I keep hoping Murtag can be released of Galbatorix's curse. I just began listening to Eragon AGAIN, and I noticed that when Brom tells his story in Carvahal when the traders are in town, he mentiones that Galbatorix ruled of Morzan's mind. He says that Morzan was agreat warrior but weak of mind, so he convinced Morzan to be on his side and finish the Elders who did not agree to give him a new dragon. And even though I believe Murtag to be extremely intelligent, and to have a very swift mind, he is also very weak at mind like his father.
Something else that worries me is that Eragon, Roran and the others, contrary to Murtag, are not afraid of dying for what they believe. We see this fear (or wanting to live even if it means constantly running away from Galbatorix, a couple of times during both books.

Well I think that if they will stay on plece where they have been they'll just die like rats for no good reason and one more dragon will be lost forever (dislikeli dragon lady). And afterall why Eregon still didn't join army of galbix he suppose to join because of his weak mind

Eragon is brother of Murtagh so if his mind is strong and loyal than its unfair...

I agree it is unfair, than again you must see how both boys upbringing was totally opposite. Murtag was raised in an enviornment of fear and hatred. Morzan showed no love for Selena or his son. Morzan was power hungry and he gained the ultimate power by joining Galbatorix. This was all while Murtag was growing up. On the other hand, Eragon was raised in an enviornment of hardship , with love and was taught many values which he reflects throughout the story. Murtag is just a vistim of the circumstances.

Incomer, CP does not make him bad in the 2nd book. He is portrying someone with no place to hide or run. He has been forced to be what he is. Later on I'll talk about the internal struggle he faces when he fights Eragon.

Roran depicts many qualities as a human character. He constantaly felt fear that he may not make it to Surda and he constantly feared for the safety of the villagers. Nevertheless, he is a corageous charater. I like him very much.

Guys, I just wonder what role will Roran play in the war against the Empire. The moment he eliminated the the twins he became part of the war effort. Will he commander a troop. Will he be a spy (not really; poster of him have been placed all around the kingdom) but what will he do once he has rescued his Katrina?

Roran does need to learn a lot. But he has demostrated he has an iron will, so if he is taught to close his mind I bet he will be as good as Murtagh in this area.

My very personal opinion is that even Eragon needs to learn more in protecting his mind. In this area Murtagh was a lot stronger than Eragon.

We need to keep in mind that Eragon's training is still incomplete in relation to the Riders of old. He and Saphira did promise to return and complete it once circumstances allow it. So yes, maybe Oromis could help him have stronger mental defences.

Sorry, I reply extremely late to these post, but no, I believe he will NOT become the next dragon Rider. Vanir, maybe. I think Roran will become some kind of leader, hes got the quality. HEy, maybe even next King! Ha! Because in Angela's fortune said that Eragon would have to leave some day when it was over...
